John Hollander wurde am 28. Oktober 1929 in New York City geboren und ist ein jüdisch-amerikanischer Dichter, Herausgeber, Literaturkritiker und Professor Emeritus von Sterling Inglese an der Yale University. Er ist einer der führenden Figuren zeitgenössischer Dichtung.
